The Iron Infusion Clinic provides specialist assessment and same-day iron infusions from our purpose-built infusion clinic in Gold Coast (Southport).

Every patient is reviewed by one of our experienced iron clinicians before treatment to ensure an iron infusion is appropriate, investigate the underlying cause of iron deficiency where needed, and develop an ongoing management plan.

This plan is discussed with you on the day, and a written report is sent back to your other health care team.

While we accept referrals from GPs, specialists, midwives and nurse practitioners, a referral is not required, and patients can submit their results for referral and booking

Patients can be seen at short notice.

Our consultation and iron infusion are completed during the same visit whenever appropriate, making treatment as convenient as possible. We process your Medicare claim online before you leave the clinic, so your Medicare rebate is paid directly into your nominated bank account as quickly as possible.

Adults & Adolescents (13 years and over)

Consultation and iron infusion: $249

For eligible patients attending with a valid referral, the consultation attracts a Medicare rebate under MBS Item 82210.

• Minimum Medicare rebate: $52.55
• Typical out-of-pocket cost: $196.45

Children (2–12 years)

Paediatric consultation and iron infusion: $399

Children are reviewed using MBS Item 110 (initial consultant physician attendance), where eligible.

• Fee: $399
• Minimum Medicare rebate: $155.85
• Typical out-of-pocket cost: $243.15

Medicare Online Claiming

We offer Medicare Online Claiming for eligible patients. This means your claim is submitted electronically at the time of your appointment, so there is no need to lodge paperwork yourself.

Medicare Safety Net

Many patients receive a higher Medicare rebate than the standard rebate because they have reached the Medicare Safety Net.

The Medicare Safety Net is a Government program that provides additional Medicare rebates once you or your registered family have spent above an annual threshold on eligible out-of-hospital medical services during the calendar year. Once the relevant threshold is reached, Medicare pays a higher benefit for many subsequent specialist consultations and procedures for the remainder of the year, subject to the applicable Safety Net rules and item caps.

This commonly benefits patients who:

• are seeing multiple specialists;
• are undergoing pregnancy care;
• have ongoing medical conditions requiring regular appointments; or
• have significant healthcare expenses during the year.

If you have reached the Medicare Safety Net, your out-of-pocket cost may be substantially lower than the amounts shown above. The exact rebate depends on your Medicare Safety Net status and individual circumstances.
