All clinical protocols and treatment pathways have been developed by consultant haematologist Dr Joel Collins, who remains closely involved in the service and provides ongoing clinical oversight across our clinics.

During your appointment we review your symptoms, medical history and blood test results to confirm whether iron deficiency is present and whether an iron infusion is appropriate.

This model allows patients to access specialist-guided care in a timely and efficient setting, while ensuring that treatment decisions are based on expertise in iron disorders rather than simply administering an infusion.

Medicare Rebate

Patients with a Medicare card may receive a Medicare rebate of approximately $51.25 for the consultation component of the appointment.

Iron Prescription

The iron medication used for the infusion is obtained from a pharmacy prior to the appointment.

The cost of the iron itself typically ranges from: $7.70 – $36 depending on health care card status and PBS eligibility.  Our staff will provide instructions on how to obtain the iron medication prior to your appointment.
